Geiger wins Tournament

Last weekend in Philadelphia, our sister in Christ, Toni Marie Geiger competed in the Liberty Bell Classic judo tournament and defeated all comers and took home the first place medal! Congratulations, Toni! She is now preparing to compete in the National judo champions, a competition to be held in California. Good Luck, and may God be with you!

Note About The Changes Today

A few changes to our bulletin & SMM

This weekend, we’ve made a few changes to our weekly bulletin and our announcement section, Saint Matthew’s Matters. Most of the changes are basic—we’re using a new font, the cover of our announcements is different, our calendar is now on page two every week, our birthdays, anniversaries, floral announcements, and those serving this weekend here at church are found on the back page. Also starting today, you can download this announcement section at our church website—it is in a format that can be printed at home.

If you have any comments or questions, please speak with Pastor Iovine.

Saint Matthew’s Good Samaritans are serving a meal today at the Hackensack Walk-In Shelter. The committee, chaired by Evelyn Comer, is preparing a luscious meal of succulent pot roast, homemade mashed potatoes, green beans, and various homemade desserts.

“Several times a year, the Samaritans put their faith in action by helping out at the walk-in shelter and at Saint Cecilia’s Shelter in Englewood. The Samaritans here at Saint Matthew’s give a wonderful example as to what it means to live out our faith in our daily lives,” said Rev. Anthony J. Iovine, pastor of Saint Matthew’s.

Saint Matthew’s received a large donation of roasts (more than 60 pounds of meat) from New Milford Shop-Rite.

“We thank our hometown supermarket for blessing our work and donating such a huge amount of food,” Iovine said.

Further, all the desserts were prepared by members of Saint Matthew’s.
